This policy explains what this site stores in your browser and who it connects to. The short version: we use no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies and no cross-site tracking, and the only thing we store is your visual theme preference. The only third party involved is YouTube, through the home page banner video.
Cookies and local storage
A cookie is a small file a site saves in your browser and sends back to the server on every visit. Local storage is similar, but it never travels to the server: it stays on your device.
What this site actually uses
This site sets no cookies of its own.
We store a single entry in your browser local storage, named “c4y-theme”, holding either “light” or “dark”. It remembers whether you chose light or dark mode so the page does not flash on load. It identifies nobody, is never sent to any server, and is never shared.
If you never touch the theme switch, it is not even created: the page follows your operating system preference.
Third parties: the YouTube videos
The banner on our home page plays a background video hosted on YouTube. On desktop screens that player loads automatically when the page opens, so a connection to Google servers is established without any action on your part.
On phones and tablets, and also when your system has reduced motion or data saver switched on, that video is not loaded: only a still image hosted on our own server is shown, and Google is not contacted.
In the other video sections we show a cover image of our own and the player loads only if you press play.
We always use the youtube-nocookie.com domain, which sets no advertising tracking cookies until content is played. Once the player loads, Google policies also apply, over which Car4You has no control.
How to control it
You can clear local storage from your browser settings, under website data. Doing so only forgets your theme preference.
If you would rather not load the YouTube player, simply do not press play: the cover is a static image from our server.
Changes to this policy
If we ever add a tool that does require cookies, we will update this document and ask for your consent before switching it on.
